Happy 4th from the Votetocracy Team!

I'm going to keep this entry short and lighthearted. Since this a day to celebrate the independence of this great country, let's enjoy the company of family and friends and save our frustration over the Washington elite for another day.

Votetocracy Privacy policy

How does Votetocracy repect your privacy?
The lawyers made us write a Privacy Policy. Privacy Policy sounds like you should be afraid. No worries, there is nothing happenning here that should make you worry about your privacy.

Here are the basics: Much of what is described here applies to most sites on the internet. Or at least the honest sites on the net.

Before you register: We collect data about clicks, what website you linked to us from. This information is in no way tied to you specifically since before registering we don't know who you are. We use this information to analyze and improve our traffic.

After registering: After you register and provide us with your name and other information we save that to our database. We do this so that we can serve all of the features the site offers. What is important to know is that we will show your votes on the site. If you wish to remain anynomus, we've got you covered. What you need to do is choose a screen name (during the registration process, or in your profile). Be sure to choose a screen name that doesn't identify you if you do want to reamain anonymous. Example: your name is Benjamin Franklin. Choosif something like "BenFrank" gives a pretty good clue as to who you are. So try something more, well..... anonymous. The only other thing you have to do is click the "keep private" check box during registration or in your profile after registration. This checkbox tells us to use your screen name instead of your first and last name. Other than that - there is no way we are going to publically show your info.

Facebook connect: There is a feature on the site that allows you to connect Votetocracy.com with your facebook account. We strongly encourage this. Here's why: The feature pulls in your profile into votetocracy. Each time you vote we will ask you if you want to post the vote to your facebook account. Imaging how powerful this can be! All these people sharing there votes on facebook and thier friends seeing the issues and votes. Of course, if you feel that you do not want to tell all your friends how you feel that is up to you. If this is the case, no proble, each time you vote (if your are in fact using the Facebook Connect feature - you'll know because you will have clicked on it in order to login) we'll ask you if it is ok to share your vote on Facebook.

Frustration, Ignorance and a lot of hope: Why we created Votetocracy

We thought it was important to let everyone know why we would create a Votetocracy.com. Well, as many Americans we were frustrated. Frustrated by some of the events of the last year and by our own ignorance around what actually goes on within our government.
