H.R. 1791, the Medical Preparedness Allowable Use Act, amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to authorize the use of certain types of homeland security grant funds to improve medical preparedness, surge capacity and mass prophylaxis. The bill ensures that funds from the Urban Area Security Initiative and State Homeland Security Grant Program funds under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are available for these purposes.
