S. 893 would require the Veterans Affairs (VA) to increase benefits to veterans with service-related disabilities and their dependents with rates equal to the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) provided to Social Security recipients. The rate increases would apply to the basic compensation rates, allowances for dependents, and clothing allowance for veterans with a disability that requires the use of a prosthetic or orthopedic device. The bill is supported by both Republicans and Democrats, and it has passed both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
